People all around the world want to improve their health, but they don't know where to start. Do you start with medical prescriptions? Or maybe even a low carb diet? Who really knows? All of the information I can give is some tips to improve your health.
1. Take out all processed and refined foods/drinks
(Processed and refined foods make the body work hard, therefore causing a stress on the immune system. It is very important that you eat organic or raw foods because of the chemicals used when a refined food is processed. Canned foods, boxed foods, or any other foods/drinks that contain additives such as MSG, high fructose corn syrup, and sugar are all processed and refined foods/drinks.)
2. Exercise often
(Not only does exercise improve your weight it also improves your mood, fights off chronic diseases, helps high blood pressure, and helps move the lymphatic system. Because the lymphatic system is not connected to the heart, it depends on exercise and other things to keep it moving.Activity activates many brain chemicals, causing you to be happier and more relaxed than you were before.)
3. Drink a lot of water
(All of us need water. After all our bodies are made up of 70% water and all of our systems yearn for it to function. Water flows nutrients to all of our cells, flushes toxins from our kidneys, assists the digestive track, regulates temperature, and helps many other things in the body.)
4. Read labels carefully
(A couple days ago my mom could not make a trip to Jamba Juice to get me a smoothie. We were in Safeway and instead she got me an Odwalla juice. Happily I sat in the car sipping a little bit at a time. In the middle of the car ride my mom read the label on the back. She read that it had evaporated cane juice, a.k.a refined sugar. We learned from this experience that we must always read labels carefully although some of the ingredients are misleading.)
5. Be aware of surrounding air
(Our story speaks for itself on this tip.)
When we were going through a rough time, these tips would have helped us realize what we can do for our health and I hope that you are one step ahead of what we were.

Another Anniversary
My family has had several Anniversaries to celebrate this year. There's of course our parent's anniversary, our 1 year (since leaving the house) anniversary, and our latest anniversary, leaving the rental home that had been sprayed with pesticides.
That week was our worst nightmare...
First we moved in and LOVED the house. (It had 6 bedrooms, a pool, and a guest house)
Second we couldn't breathe after one night of staying there. (Our throats closed up because of the pesticides sprayed throughout the house)
Third we slept outside although they had sprayed pesticides out there as well. (Some of us felt safer outside because of the amount sprayed inside)
Fourth we vacated the home leaving our father to do his radio show in the guest house. (My dad had to do his radio show and claimed that he didn't react to the house)
Finally we lived off of hotels for several more weeks. (For my birthday I spent my time searching for houses to rent temporarily)
With our words we lived it all over again last night. We remebered hotel after hotel, my dad's work, and the complication of it all.
Now that another anniversary has passed, time goes on and the road to recovery gets closer to being paved.

Almost Paved
On Wednesday I celebrated my 3 week anniversary for my broken collarbone. I was running on a hiking trail and lost my footing. 3 weeks down 3 to go.
At first it seemed like another bump in the road, but after the first couple days we started thinking that the break happened for good.
"Mom, since my collarbone is broken it gives a break from my symptoms." I said expressing my thoughts as I always do.
In a way I was right. Instead of focusing on my symptoms and noting them for my next Acupuncture visit, I have something else to worry about now.
Everything is back to normal now. I am back to focusing on my symptoms and noting them for my next Acupuncture appointment.
But I'm sure this break happened for a reason as everything else in life does.
I realized something this week. When we vacated our home it was like a road fell apart and needed repaving. Now that we are coming closer to recovery the road is getting closer to pavement. We just need to wait until the road is safe to drive on.

Poems
Recently I have been really interested in poetry. I wrote a few in the last couple weeks and I am eager to share them with you guys.
My Hero
To see him you may not know
That inside he is filled with grief
His bravery is below
The heartache that is shown so brief
Having him close by
Makes fear depart with ease
On him I can rely
More than the endless seas
Hidden beneath his grey hair
Is sorrow of a noble man
Who sits in his dusty chair
Thinking of how it began
Christmas Time
It's Christmas time
Come one, come all
The church bells chime
Hear theit call
A white blanket covers
The autum leaves that drop
An icy chill discovers
A glistening treetop
Too soon Christmas passes by
The streets are busy no more
Our sorrow is hard to deny,
But our gifts are hard to ignore
My Mom
The swish of her black house shoes
And her house with splendid views
Sitting at her laptop typing away
Practically every day
Wiping down the smooth granite counter tops
And scrupping the floors with drenched mops
My Hero
To see him you may not know
That inside he is filled with grief
His bravery is below
The heartache that is shown so brief
Having him close by
Makes fear depart with ease
On him I can rely
More than the endless seas

Writing Progress
Recently we have had a tutor come to our home to teach us for three hours. From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. we are being taught reading, math, vocabulary, and writing. Compared to the writing piece I did this summer about Mimi I can see definite progress through this one.
Based off of the writing piece I did this summer I wrote this piece shortly after we had the tutor come to our home. The prompt was to write a memory and grab the readers attention. So I did the best I could. To read my old piece see my October 5th entry.
As my grandmother walked along the beach beside me we watched the waves crash reaching our feet. We dug our toes into the sand as we sat down watching the waves of the ocean. Her short, silver hair blew in the wind as she gazed out over the sea.
"Mimi, you coming?" I said sticking my feet into the ocean.
"I will be there in a second." she said.
As I floated along the surface of the ocean I felt the waves grow bigger underneath me. They thrusted me forward until I reached the shallow end. I fell down feeling the sand and the sea shells at my feet. The salt water filled up in my nostrils while I got pulled under. Mimi walked over to me stepping into the ocean as she chuckled. We both laughed happily until our cheeks were sore. As we looked out further than anybody can see we saw figures swimming among the surface of the sea.
"Dolphins!" I yelled in excitement.
"Wow! They are so pretty." Mimi said looking at me.
Staying at the beach, my family enjoyed the day as it flew by. We watched the sun sink creating beautiful colors in the sky. We ate our dinner laughing, smiling, and talking. Sometimes when I think back to this memory I can see Mimi smiling from up above.
I will always remember Mimi. I always have and I always will.

Privileges
The other day I asked my mom if she would rather have the knowledge of Toxic exposures or of Chinese Medicine.
"Well... that's a hard one." She said trying to find the right answer.
Finally finding the correct answer she said, "It's a privilege to have the knowledge of both Chinese medicine and Toxic exposures."
When we left our house back in Colorado we opened up an infinite amount of possibilities. If we didn't leave our house we wouldn't be here with this knowledge that we have now. We left with decisions to make, belongings to buy, and recoveries to make.
Every day we learn new things. Just in this past couple weeks we have had several lessons that needed to be learned. We started a new diet that doesn't cut out carbs, we get more and more exercise each day, and we have a teacher coming to our house every day. We discovered foods like Quinoa (the source of protein), Adzuki beans (to dry dampness in our bodies ), and Mung beans (the De-tox beans). Our condition of dampness (the climate in our body) was caused by our exposure to mold. Living off of meats, vegetables, and of course these super foods makes it easier to slowly make our way back to normal health.
Along with the diet we have our supplements daily. Our two new supplements are Spirulina and carrot juice (juiced from our juicer).
As we come closer to recovery, we realize these privileges that we receive in life and use them to help others.

Baseball
Despite all of the big things that we own the small things are the most precious.
Instead of playing with a big toy that would mean the world to an average 8 year old, my younger brother plays with a drumstick and a duct tape ball every day. We use the drumstick as a bat, a duct tape ball as a baseball, and other duct tape products that we use for bases. It is a game similar to Baseball except we make up the rules as we go along.
Last night was the last game of the World Series for the professional Baseball league. While my three brothers and I watched the Baseball game we assembled our own little game that we would never want to stop.
"Okay, your the Phillies and we're the Rockies." My brother said.
Of course, we agreed and started the first inning of the game. For a few moments in between every pitch we would stop to watch the World Series and return to our own game.
After a few innings my brother and I were falling behind.
When we got into the 5Th inning my dad said, "Okay, let's wrap up the game. This will be the last inning."
Of course, we argued but it was no use.
Like the Yankees, my brother and I ended up winning at that last inning.
While the Yankees are celebrating their victory we look forward to another game of Baseball.
